Polyamide 6

Polyamide 6 is a tough and strong material affording parts with good damping characteristics and high shock resistance even in the dry state and at low temperatures. It has improved surface appearance, creep resistance, and processability compared to Polyamide 66.It also can be molded about 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) lower with less mold shrinkage because it is slightly less crystalline. Adversely, PA 6 has a lower modulus and absorbs mouisture more rapidly that PA 66. For specific applications, PA 6 is a better candidate than PA 66 in 75% cases. PA 6 is as stiff as PA 66 with temperatures up to 180°C and also exhibits a better long-term heat ageing than PA 66. Provides a good surface appearance and a good weld strength which leads to a good burst pressure resistance.
